Well. We’ve officially done it. This morning we packed up and left Virginia Beach. It was bittersweet in some respects. We left behind a lot of people we care very deeply about, but at the same time, we don’t want to miss one moment of our lives. This week has been soΒ incredibly busy,Β just downright hectic, moving Emma out and Danae’s familyΒ in to their new home. Closing up our house as best and fast as we could. Trying to be sure Emma had all that she needed to get her started. All of that on top of saying “see you in a bit” to family, friends and friends who might as well be blood related.
John had a Retirement party thrown for him almost every day this week.
- Saying goodbye isn’t always a party
He will obviously be missed at Sentara, and he left Friday feeling very appreciated. I left Williams quietly Thursday. I will never forget the good times and good people I met there. It was the best of times, and I was privilegedΒ to work with such talented and dedicated people.
We also had our goodbyes at our favorite Mexican place, Las Palmas.
We were joined by dear friends and celebrated Danae’s January birthday with a https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FKrmihalk%2Fvideos%2F10155229581872787%2F&show_text=0&width=225” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>surprise birthday celebration. Should you stop in for some of the best Mexican in Virginia Beach, tell them we said hello.
Afterward we went and played mini golf at Lynnhaven Golf Park. The place was PACKED! We had SO much fun! it was a great evening. Thank you to Henry, Lisa, Bean and Eli, Danae, Chip, AJ and Josie, Raymond and Emma for making it such a memorable night.

Saturday was an early day filled with lots of moving, and all the chores that comes with it. It was tackled with excitement and goodwill as we had Ken’sΒ Annual 4th of July party to look forward to. That is always a good time, with lots ofΒ karaoke, food, his wonderful pool, and awesome friends!
Β Highlights this year included the dance off and contestant’s trying to ride the poolΒ bull, Lucky. AJ won $100 for having the longest ride on Lucky.
Andrew won the Dance off for guys with his sweet moves, Emma won the dance off for girls with her classic Running Man/Bernie.
It was wonderful way to cap off our time in Virginia Beach. Besides, Ken’s parties are ALWAYS epic…
This morning, we packed up our bikes, put the car on the dolly and started heading north to see John’s brother, Joe and family. We are currently in Dover Delaware, after a brief stop in Salisbury MD for John to take a nap. While he did that, I walked our wonderful puppies, and took them to Petsmart for a treat.
We are looking to stop for the night in Pennsylvania, as we are still recuperating from yesterday.
Well, the hard part is over! Have a safe trip! You are so loved! What a great feeling!
